I was putting into thought tho that the d44 rear Cherokee is a lot harder to find and more expensive. 8.8s are everywhere and cheaper

if you have to ask "what's an easy axle swap." then the 8.8 is NOT an easy swap for you.
I'm helping with my buddies 8.8 swap and it's a lot of work. especially if you dont have the proper tools

if I had to choose one and I was running 33's I'd pick the 8.25

i have the 8.25 i might just rebuild it not sure yet was looking n found some install kits to weld onto the 8.8s which is cheaper than rebuilding as the 8.8 is free

Just retrofit a lpD30 into the rear.

Fyi, if you search, you could probably find your answer.

weld on kit is like $120 and a healthy dose of cutting and welding. junk yard axle will also need rebuilt ends which is $500+ for new parts.
it's up to you man but if you arent ever going bigger than 33's then I'd gear/lock a 29 spline 8.25.
unless you have ax15 because 8.8 has 4.10's and lsd in some of them. pick that hands down in that situation.

on a side note, build parts for the D44 are the most expensive of the 3 axles

yes sorry I was in a hurry but I was referring to ends as everything brake related.
the one we're working on right now has been rotting for 2 years so it needs an overhaul.
basically I'm warning you that I thought you could just grab an axle and weld on new perches and mounts and install it but there's a lot of other things that nickel and dime you along the way. I dont know if you've ever swapped an axle before but that's my experience with it
