Beginning to think I won't find a Cherokee
Its tough to find one that's not rusted to **** here in the New England area. Have looked at about ten so far. Most recent one today, body was in pristine condition. The undercarriage was a different story. Most of the brake lines were rusted to crap and that is something I do not want to deal with. The search continues, something will pop up, right?

Don't give up hope. I looked for three months before finding mine, the one I liked at the right price. Keep in mind though, it's a 20 year old vehicle, and in your area and mine, NE/MI, snowy, salted roads in the winters we have will always leave a vehicle with some rust. So, inevitably, you'll be dealing with it. Just depends how much, but again, don't give up, there are some great ones out there that aren't too bad to fix up!

Keep your head up man i live in new york and it took me 5 months to find mine but it was totally worth it now my advice is to look at absolutely everything you can thats in decent shape and even check dealerships, from time to time they actually have a nice deal. A friend of mine just got a relatively rust free 99 for $2000 from a dealership

I took the last one. sorry.
I bought the last one in VT 3 years ago. That's it, they're all gone. JK I thought I was rescuing it by taking it to CO with me, but last winter both my rockers disintegrated from inside-out and I was trying to stop it! That's iron-y fer ya
Seriously though, I've been looking around in the Denver and mountains west for months now and the few unmolested ones I've found without rust have all had a huge sticker price. Ok, I found one good deal but had to pass it up due to the Lapis Blue. I just couldn't do it! The best ones always seem to come up when I'm not looking, so I guess my point is definitely don't give up! They are out there (even in the rust belt of NE) and it's only a matter of time until you find one! ...and when you do it will have been SO worth the wait!

dont give up looking when i got mine there was alot of stuff wrong with it just give it time or get a decent one and fix it up. its highly unlikely you will find a xj in prestine condition but you will also have fun building and making it your own makes you feel closer to your xj or any car you build up

I live up here in Maine and I no what your saying. craigslist is useless. once you cone across one that decent, work on it and make it perfect. Then if you ever want to sell it you can make alot On it because it will be so nice. That's what I'm doing is looking for another one to make as perfect condition as you can get with a jeep.
