I had quite the scare yesterday when my daughter became stuck in the back seat, passenger side seatbelt..and I mean stuck! It unbuckled but would not release any tension, my daughter received burns from it and we had to cut the seat belt Has anyone had issues with this?
Getting some flack from my dealership on this, they say I should have never cut the seat belt. Looking to see if anyone has experienced anything like this.

I have a 2017 Jeep Cherokee Limited.

 

I checked for recalls about it. None.

 

Im confused. She was stuck in the seatbelt. How? You said it unbuckled, but would not release tension. Im assuming that it wouldnt retract back into the reel once it unbuckled? Could be a faulty reel, which ive never come across yet. More likely its a dirty belt getting hung up and wont retract properly. That i have come across, as belts can get dirty. You cut the belt. Why? Just curious. You say it unbuckled. She got burned by the seatbelt. The only time i got burned by a belt was during an accident, leaving a red spot on my neck.

My mom has a 2018 WK, and when my stepdad rides along, ill sit in the back. So far, no issues with the belt.

 

i am unsure how she got stuck if it unbuckled as well..in the car seat somehow maybe??
