Default Back Hatch Door Stuck Closed

Hey guys. Just recently, I had issues opening my back hatch, and I followed a YouTube video on adjusting the retainer to be tighter on the latch mechanism.

It worked great for a little while...

Until, tonight, I felt something completely click off. I think the retainer completely disconnected from the mechanism, so now when I lift up on the back hatch handle, nothing at all engages. Just nothing at all.

How do I get the door open now to get back into the mechanism?

You're going to have to get at it from the inside. Crawl up in there and take the trim off and see where it goes from there

I've seen lots of people break their trims doing that. What's the likelihood that I'll be able to get to this without breaking the interior to pieces?

Just gotta use some finesse. Shouldn't be too bad. Hardest part will be getting in there haha

Fair enough, I was able to get back in there this morning by taking the trim off from the inside of the Jeep, and re-attaching the mechanism. My suspicions were correct in that the mechanism came apart.
