Default Audio question....a really hard one!

I gotta a box in the back of my XJ that holds 2 15" subs. One of them is blown, thanks to a little too much fun at the loud button. I can get a heck of a deal on 2 12"s. Can I make an adapter ring and put the 12"s in the 15" box? Will I damage the subs? I know the box is tuned for the 15"s.

Just curious, don't want to have to take the box out.

Thanks
Trev

You probably can, but they'll probably sound like crap. The box is built for 15's, not 12's. Plain and simple.

Get a piece of 3/4 inch particle board and cut the proper size holes so that they are centered over the holes for the 15" subs, and then just screw the new board down over the old. You may want to cover it with carpet or fabric that matches the box before screwing it down. If you need to take up some of the extra air space inside the box, just take some of your sister's stuffed animals and throw them in there. She will never miss them.
