Considering a 95 XJ with 230k. Seems to run good and trans seems fine. A/C works. One rust hole about the size of a nickel on the right rear roof near the corner, but no others that I can see. I can get it for $900. Is this a good deal?

Seems like a pretty good deal.
I like that is already has a hitch, and the tube bumper looks to be in pretty good condition.
Also has some offset rims with some BFG ATs, hows the tread on them?
Have you tested the transfer case?
Everything under the hood look good?
If so I would wave $800 cash in his face

even though it looks like a jeep from florida? i would look at the floors for rust, salt water from the ocean, and the mud there will eat the floors out, but the body will look fine, i live in pa and my project cherokee is like that
Put the jeep in 4x4 and drive it. Accelerate hard to see if it kicks out of 4x;. I didn't do that when I bought mine and it would go in 4x4 but the tcase chain was jumping. I'd buy that jeep for 900 tho.

U can do it on asphalt. All ur trying to do is put load on the tcase. U will either hear grinding or it will jump out. That's what mine did. Don't drive miles in 4x4 on asphalt but do it for a min. If it's bad u will know right away
