I was about to order this winch. But I figured id ask for a couple opinions here first

Haven't heard any negatives, other than they are really slow...???

Im not trying to win any speed winching contests? Lol that's just me. Id rather it be slow and strong then fast and weak

Try to find out something about their customer service... In looking at budget winches you will see similar specs and similar price points, but Smittybilt customer service is widely known as top notch. The XRC8 can be had for that price or less.

I have that winch. First test I dragged a wrangler in 4wd in park up a black top hill.
I was impressed.

Id go with a Mile Marker personally, can be had for the same price, they are bulletproof.

As far as I know.. The solenoid on mine is sealed.

Is 8k really enough for a fully equipped xj?

I've seen the XR8 upright the rig they are bolted to off the roof and onto its wheels.

Yes, it is.

As far as the waterproof issue, I think there are very few on the market that are marketed as waterproof. The XRC8 is not.

So not being water proof would I have a problem if it were to get submerged?

i run this on my XJ (10,000lb) and its gone for a swim many times still runs strong with zero issues. 3 years now.

this year ill pull it apart and clean it up.

I was looking on winchdepot.com and the xcr8 and xcr10 are both in my budget but slightly worried about water crossings
