Anyone run quadratec winches?
Make a long story short, my buddy was stuck but not bad. He has a brand new 9500i i recommend to him. Good time to try it out, starts winching and the motor/ case basically cracks in half and blows apart!!! I figure it must be a bad egg... Go to my xj with a fresh 9500i also with maybe two pulls on it.. Click, click. Wtf! All my wiring is clean ,tight. Secured. The previous pull on this winch it was spooling very slow and making nasty noise.
I cant believe this, two winches , brand new nevertheless. Im not sure i even want a replacement! Seems these will leave you stranded! Going to call this morning and see what they have to say.

I have one of the Q11,000 winches. I use it to pull logs up onto a trailer so that I can haul them to the mill. I do this 3-4 times a week and it gets worked pretty hard. I did have a problem right after I first got it - the spring in the drum brake broke. It would spool in but not out. I called them up and I had a replacement drum assembly two days later.
I haven't had a problem since. So far, it's as good as any other winch that I've used. It does what it is supposed to do.

Thanks for the reply. Been studying winches for a few weeks, and I think this is basically a mile marker. I just can't find many "real world" reviews on either yet.

I'm running the XRC 8 Smitybilt 8000lb winch along with some of my friends. Never had an issue with them. They are a bit louder than say a Warn winch, but pleased with it. Sorry can't help you concerning the Quadratec winch.
Curious about the outcome also.

Yeah, I don't know for sure and I haven't asked them, but I have a Mile Marker SEC8 and the Q-series looks a whole lot like them, even on the inside.
