Default Anyone else drive an XJ where the speedo is inop?

Anyone wonder how to get by without their speedo? If need be,do what I do. Get yourself a TOM TOM. Set it to "no destination",turn off the sound and TA DA you have a speedo.I mount mine right next to my rear view mirror.

Not sure how accurate it is,or if it would hold up in court if sited by the law for speeding,it sure keeps me at a decent speed without guessing.

Odometer wise...It cant help you there, but it will get you by until you fix your issue.

Oh and another thing,on some roads, the TOM TOM can actually "read" the speed limit. You can actually set your TOM TOM to give you an audible warning when you are traveling over the posted speed limit. Doesnt work on all Roads...Only the major ones. It will give you a reading of "45/65" That means your traveling 45 mph in a 65 mph zone.

If speeding, the indicator will turn orange and sound the tone of your choice, which you program.

On non major roads,it will only show your current speed, without the speed limit.

It doesnt however show changes in speed limit on major roads due to things like construction.

When my gauges decide they don't want to work I go without a speedo for awhile.. minutes.. hours... days... months.. ?

Typically I can tell by what gear I am in and how the engine sounds about how fast I am going.. easy to do with a manual trans.
