You should look for Limited seats from a '97 & newer XJ. I've seen the Limited seats for the newer ones like yours and they only have minor differences, but overall very similar to mine. They look luxurious! I like them. The mounting brackets should be the same as yours. To use one from my year ('84-'96) you would have to mod your seat mounts.
1990 Limited I LOVE LOVE LOVE my leather seats I live where -45 is a good day in the winter and the seats are still awesome they aren't ridiculously cold like chevy's pleather when i get in. It's a little funny this turned into a seats thread

I like the leather seat conversion you guys have done looks good and comfy.. my 93 sport had the cloth bucket seats that were comfortable and still held me in when cornering..
Yea i leave for a coupe days my thread goes the other direction but it has to do with interior so its all good with me..
Anyways, what would it take to build a new console.. or anyways to help stiffen the factory one. On both my jeeps its the same and i dont like that it can move around alot.. So any mods that will help keep it in place will help..
thanks

"Seat conversion"? Weren't you paying attention? Those are stock seats buddy, not mods.
Post a pic of your center console so I can see what you have - I posted a pic of mine - it doesn't get any stiffer than steel, and mine has never moved around ... even before the insert was added.

ok sorry for the wrong word description.. some are stock and other want to swap.. They look good and would be a good idea to put in.. settled.
I took out the carpet and herculined the interior.. So for me it that back part where the storage compartment is that i can move from seat to seat.. But as of right now its factory console.. I was thinking of building one of MDF and maybe fiberglass.. better cup holders and make a hidden storage compartment aka safe lock.. and since im making it go to the back seats ima put cup holders there and also want to place a monitor in the back for the kids to watch movies and things.
So thats the idea but i dont have the motivation to do it yet.. so just want to keep the factory console from shifting around

Mine was really loose too. There's a little plastic bracket that connects the tub under the armrest to the floor and they break pretty easy. Very flimsy material. I took it out last week and screwed some metal straps around it to reinforce it. Helped a little but still kinda crumy.

Must be that "new style" crap. That's why I deliberately got an old style XJ. I was warned about anything newer than a '94 - for various reasons. Can't offer any help on this one ... sorry.

Ahh dont worry about not really trying to figure out a solution, this thread was to see how others look what theyve done. I plan on building a new one so was looking for ideas of what i can incorporate with the build.. CV, switch panel, better cup holders, etc.. but thanks for the help, for now ill look into doing the metal strap idea..

Just thought it throw this in here!!

Yeah ... I asked you for pics, but if you have a standard '98 console, I know what that looks like. There was a thread somewhere where a guy made a console w/cupholders out of wood, but I can't remember if it was even on this forum. Did you do a search for "consoles"?
