Thing Obama (or any other politician) doesn't get a lot of us can't afford new autos & those cars that went to the scrap yard is all we can afford.
Politicians are all A$$ halves (not even worthy enough of being an A$$ Holes!)
And that's why there aren't any junkyards in New York City. Land is simply too expensive and liability is far too high with 5 hyper-litigant retards per square foot.
Gas stations will be next. Then roads.

I live in Philadelphia area, and there's hundreds of junkyards around southeast Pennsylvania. U just gotta know where to go. My favorite is Harry's in west hazleton. It's the biggest I ever been to. They have over 10,000, cars in the yard at any given time.

we have a few in my town. The only problem is the prices they ask for stuff is absolutely ridiculous. That and most of the stock is picked over... People destroy the jeeps just trying to get to one part.

Oh they know we can't afford the new cars, they just want us to get rid of the old polluting/gas guzzling vehicles and all ride the bus to help save the planet and stop global warming(biggest scam ever invented).Originally Posted by caronaxtr

There are several JY near me, one large one about 40 miles is a pull a part one.
And $600,000 per acre, I could never live there. Got my house and 3 acres for $42k

There's a lot of big full junkyards around this area. Most are so busy half the cars they get don't even make it to the yard they go straight to the crusher because the yards are just to full.

Looks like pull it yourself junkyards are no longer illegal in the state of CT.

From working at a yj. U pull they make plenty profit. They scrap rims steel and aluminum. Wire and I'm talking about a lot of wire. Converters, plus the shells. They pick up anywhere from 20-50 a day.
I wouldn't be surprised they make at least a couple hundred grand a month.
Now the other old car jy is another story never been but probably will soon if its still around. It's about 200 miles away and the cars range from the 30 to the 80 from what I recall reading. Its been a rumor that they are going to be crushing the cars starting now ( read about it back in December) but haven't make my way down there to see if rumors are true.

Here in New Jersey junk yards and u pull it's are all over the place. Can count 10 within a 30 minute drive. There is one near my house that was featured on the show American pickers it is no longer active but had many of old cars and trucks there tucked into the woods. I believe it sits on 55 acres and now the grounds are used for a haunted hayride with many of these cars used as props. Also they hold a large car show in October called the pumpkin run. Pretty neat place to go to. He also has one of those old diners from back in the 50's would be my guess that is only open once a year for the car show. As well as an old gas station set up. It's like a trip back into history
