i get really frustrated when people try telling me xj's and grand cherokees are the same. and immensely more frustrated when trying to find parts for xjs and it keeps showing me grand cherokee parts.

The only time I've ever ran into a GC/Cherokee thing is at the parts stores when they ask me after I said cherokee whether it's a grand cherokee or not. I eventualy hit them with "Jeep XJ" when I use go into the parts stores.. Never had anyone ever tell me they were the same.

It used to bug me that whenever I typed in Jeep Cherokee in the search bar on google or EBAY or something, it would come up with tons of Grand Cherokee articles or items.

Then I learned that if you type "Jeep Cherokee -grand", search engines will exclude anything containing the word "grand".

my friend had one, then he totaled it when he hit a 6" diameter pine tree doing 50 while powersliding down a dirt road, not his brightest move but he walked away without a scratch. like i said it was totaled but that could have easily been a fatal crash.

If you think the Cherokee/Grand Cherokee confusion is bad, try and buy any part for GMC 305 V6, the auto parts store guy will tell you that you mean V8, and so will his manager.

Ha, I thought I was the only one annoyed by that. Craigslist is bad, but not the worst. I was renting a U-haul trailer a few months ago, and in their database is only two types of Cherokees: "Grand" and "down-sized". down sized my *****.
