I know what you are talking about. When I went active duty in the Marines, pretty much everyone above Lance Corporal had been to Vietnam. Many came home through San Francisco International. The land of fruits in San Fran was not kind to them.
My son is currently aboard the USS Tortuga, a Marine landing ship stationed in Sasebo, Japan. As is your case, I too hope for a safe reunion!
And a whole hearted THANK YOU to all who serve and all those who have served.
Me, Sergeant, US Marines, 98 Cherokee Classic.
Son, Ensign, US Navy, 89 Cherokee Pioneer.

You guys keep telling my pilots where they are and we'll get 'em for ya!! Cant hide from 1150 rounds of pure 30MM fury!!!!! Thanks US Army and USMC!! (For the record, Army brat here, I just got steered to the AF by my old man who spent 20 years jumping out of perfectly good airplanes.....2-504th PIR 82nd ABN division, Ft Bragg NC.)

As a 101st Airborne combat vet it feels good to hear these comments. My stint was short but I was stop lossed and sent to Iraq at the beginning of the war, crossed from Kuwait on March 25th, 2003.
Here's to a safe reunion with your son
Thanks to all those that continue to serve! We need you!

My niece (C130 Crew Chief) has done two tours in Afghanistan. I did Storm in 1991 - SAWSM with three bronze campaign stars.
My wife and I have adopted a load of Marines and send them care packages as regularly as we are able - comfort goodies, munchies that aren't in the "Meals Refusing to Exit" - now in twenty-four colon-blocking flavours! (At that, they're still a massive improvement over C rations, but I miss that old "Coffee, Instant, Type I.") movies where they're able to watch them, books, and magazines. I've been forward deployed, so I can understand (and my wife understands from what I've told her. I've been in conditions that would make living in a CONEX box look like a suite at the Ritz!)
I can't keep up the fight anymore, but I can work to support those who can. Some debts you can't repay, but you can try to at least pay the interest...

E4 in the Air Force here, thank you to the other service members who are currently down range and those that have been.
I am lucky enough to only have to go down there a few times every month or two since I am a Flying Crew Chief flying in C5 Galaxy's.
Here's my jeep!

E4 in the Army. Heavy Construction Equipment Mechanic. Currently deployed to Iraq. I fix HET/T trailers. They haul M1A1 Abrams to and from FOBs. I drive a 1990 XJ Laredo. It's a POS.
