Notice to my XJ brethren! Where are the jeep clubs in AK? Where are the trails? I did all my wheeling in the Midwest and west coast area in college. Just got a Jeep since I came back to Alaska and I never wheeled in my home state. Hit me up, still working out the kinks and completely stock but upgrades are coming!!! I wanna be out on the trails as much as I can when I'm happy with my rigs performance.

I would imagine that a lot of Alaska is left to the hands of the forest service, so I would get a GPS like the Garmin 60 CSX. Amazon sells it for $200. Then get yourself the TOPO download for Alaska.
Here are two trails: Oscar Lake ORV Route, and Klutina Lake Trail. They are a bit northeast of Anchorage.
It looks like you can take highway 1 from Anchorage to get to Klutina.
I would imagine though that you could hit logging roads and maybe more in just about any area.
I don't know for sure, so you should check with your local forest ranger.
