Default AC HEATER switch wont work

I just picked up another xj. The heater/ac switch will not work. I get nothing blowing out. I can feel heat being produced but the fan will not respond. I replaced the blower resistor and the fuses seem to be good. (these are the fuses under the passenger side) any other fuses that I should check? I also swapped the switch control with another jeep and got no new results. Its starting to snow! need to figure this out. Any ideas?

My fan quite working and I couldn't figure it out. I got agrivated and hit the dash with a maglight and it magically started working found out a while later I had some melted connections but if its not fixed yet it a suggestion to smack it a little.

Seconding this, especially since you replaced the resistor.

Maybe there's a relay to check? What year/model?

That would be nice. I noticed a bit of melted wires in a relay that is under the glove box tied into the same wires as the blower resistor(whicbh has also been replaced) Its a 2000 cherokee sport. Anybody have a part number for this?

Well that could very likely be the problem. Sorry, I don't know the part number. I believe some of those relays can be switched for testing. Google found these.. i'd shop around for price, or a local auto parts for handy

You'd have to test them. The relay is just an electric switch. 12 volts across the terminals closes a switch which turns on the component. If the relay has a schematic on it, just follow that. If the 12 volts energizes the coil, the switch contacts will show continuity. If it doesn't energize OR show continuity, it's toast. An easier way to test is to pull a similar relay out and put it in where the burnt one is. If the heater then works, you just need another relay. The down side is, you might fry it too. I'd just take the crispy one up to auto parts and get a similar one. They're not expensive, maybe $10 or $12.

check all your fuses. make sure you have a current going to all components. use a volt meter to see where your current is being stopped
