This is why a the length of springs won't tell amount of lift. Red ones 1/2" taller and give 3 1/2" lift.

Well the red coil is obviously thicker than the black coil. It appears that the red one would compress less. Is that what you are trying to get across or?

My 6.5" springs aren't much taller than my 3.5" springs, but they are definately thicker.
