Default 99 cherokee fuel mileage

I just bought a cherokee sport for super cheap. Needed heater core, radiator and water pump. Very good condition. I always wanted one but never came across one I could afford. I LOVE IT SOO MUCH. Easyest work ever on a motor. Just wandering if there is a cheap way to get better gas mileage. Any solutions.

Full tune up and an injector upgrade may help you out. Unless you're getting horrible gas mileage, don't expect anything major though.

I just drove cross country with my 94 and it averaged 19.6 mpg (all stock, 30x9.5x15 tires) and it has well over 250k miles on it.

99 only came with the 20gal. City or Highway driving? Normal city mpg is about 15-17 for a stock XJ. But this also depends on your driving habits. A heavy right foot kills mpg's in our XJ's.

Horrible mpg's would be like 10-12 in the city for a stock XJ. I'm on 4" and 31 MTR's w/ 4.56's and I still get 14.5 in the city.

105 miles on 3/8 of a tank(almost half)... You have used 8 gallons at the halfway mark and 16 at empty, so you still have 4 left when low fuel light comes on. So 105/6 equals out to 17.5 mpg, not bad.

Our gauges tend to be a little off. At 1/8 of a tank you tend to have about 4 gallons left honestly, so you should only be putting in about 16 gallons at fill up. If you've only used 3/8 of a tank and you've gotten 105 miles on it that isn't bad.

You need to do some work to it then. 33's and 6.5" shouldn't be killing it that much. check you o2 sensors an do a tune up.

I coasted to the pumps on fumes once and put 17.7 gallons into my 99.

My stock 99 gets 16mpg city/hwy mix.
My 33' and 6' lift 99 gets 13mpg city/hwy mix
