Hi, I read up that 1999+ cherokee 4.0L intake manifold on the cherokees gave them a minor increase in power over the previous models, and better mpg, and I was wondering if it would fit on my 1993 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L with no power steering issues. also I was planning on installing Banks power torque tube headers and if I wouldnt run into any issues with that. thanks any help is appreciated.

i wouldn't say its not worth it i feel something more there, plus why would jeep have redesigned it it it wasn't a better product or more efficient! its the same principle as headers you want all your tubes the same length, and clearly on the old design the ends where much longer i did it on my 96 and i love it but on the 93 you will need a new power steering bracket and belt !

There has been real world tests that say it wasn't a large performance increase and it lowers your mpg a small amout. So if you are planning on doing just this I wouldn't but if you got a free or cheap one and you have to do something else in there that is where it may help. But if its just the intake you want I wouldn't worry about it

I know I could pick it up for cheap at my local junk yard but its soon due for a rebuild on the engine its got 265,XXX miles on original motor I was planning on taking the engine out, rebuild it and get a 4.7 stroker for it so when I do that I was wanted to put it on.

I did the swap on my 95 ZJ, changed the P/S pump and brackets to a 96+ setup. I do feel a little more power, the engine seems to breather a little better, it pulls longer to a higher RPM before falling on its face, and I've noticed NO decrease in gas mileage. I spent a total of 90 bucks on the swap and feel it was money well spent. You will need a 96+ P/S pump bracket. You can use the older pump, but you have to drill out the mounting holes on the pump, and you must change the pulley to a 96+ pulley. And of course you need to use the 96+ serp belt. The 96+ belt adjustment is much easier than the older style too.
