Soo for some reason I go through fuel pumps like crazy, mine just went out this morning again and I'm wondering what would be causing this?? I put in a new fuel filter last time and I heard that driving around with like 1/8 can wear it out super fast. Is there a really good one I can get that's reliable? I've been through 1 OEM one and 3 Bosch ones. Help Please! Thanks!

 

Wow. Where are you buying your gas? Reputable place? In 5 years of owning 2 XJs I have never had a pump go down.

 

I just buy gas at w/e station I come by. I just run Regular Gas through it

 

My guess is your fuel tank is rusted, my pump went out due to my old gas going bad. So I replaced the pump and cleaned the tank, then not to long after pump fails again, come to find out when I cleaned the tank I forgot to seal it and it rusted up BAD. So I got a new tank their like a hundred bucks at autoparts, you could clean it up but by the time you buy the chemicals I think it just makes more sense to grab a new one.

 

I just cleaned mine out, no rust, but ALOT of dirt and like some random screens and stuff haha. Going to put it all back together and see how it goes!
