Yeah, there's radius arm (y-link set up. Attaches to the crossmember in 2 places, like mentioned before) 4-link (attaches to the body in 4 places, similar to stock setup, just longer arms) 3-link (same-ish to 4-link, just with one upper control arm instead of 2. Reduces binding) triangulated 4-link (same concept as 4-link, just arranged in a way that the trackbar is no longer needed)
I'm new to all this whole LA concept too, so forgive me if any of my info is wrong.

Personally I'd stick with 4.5 and get longer shocks and stuff to make it flex more. You can get a 4.5 to flex like a 6.5 if u do it right. I'm still researching.

Offroad the long arms definitely improve the ride quality. But with my Jeep as my daily driver the road quality is more important to me.

In my past experiences the long arms are a little more squirrelly on the road. I went straight to control arm drop and I like the ride quality more.

Funny as you say radius arms are the only thing that are the equivalent to long arms when a 3-link or 4-link "long arm" kit is far more superior. The quote from the BDS page should explain why.I'm not knocking a radius arm setup either as I ran one before my 3-link.

BDS is a perfect example. And within two sentences they use both references:
Although this XJ long arm system makes for a great daily driver, the true abilities of this system won' t be appreciated until you hit the rocks, dirt and mud. The 4-Link design maintains better axle control through wheel travel than any radius arm system because the upper to lower link relationship is not fixed, yet is tuned for optimum performance based on link length and operating angles.

once again. when I hear long arms, radius arms come to mind. obviously 3 or 4 link can be long too. but you don't call those long arms. you call it either a 3 link or a 4 link. and obviously I know what each setup is don't try to explain it to me like I'm 5
