depends on your personal preference.

I run 33x10.5's while he ran 33x12.5's

I like the wide look but run a skinnier tire. why? cause thats what i did. no real answer for ya it really comes down to preference.

and wheeling style. you need more floatation, run a wider tire

^^^ x2

for dry and rocky (i live in the NM desert) i use the 10.5's and have no problems, my friends use 12.5's and 2 of them use 15.5's

we all make the trail and never have had a reason why one is better.

Really depends on your preference. I like the look of a tire tucked up under and flush with the flares opposed to a tire sticking out. I have Bushwacker cut-outs which are wider than stock flares so I run 12.50's but if I didn't have them I would run 10.50's. Whatever you like, go ahead with.

x3 on preference. IF it's traction your looking for, look at tread cuts (all-terrain, mud-terrain, etc) rather than tire size. The more aggressive the tread, the more traction off road. The downside is if it's your DD, you'll wear the tires faster on the pavement and get slightly worse gas mileage.

Width makes a difference in mud... skinny digs down to the hard bottom while wide floats across the top.. Really depends what kind of mud you play in

Don't go in mud very often. Mostly rocks and dirt

Im kinda waking up a dead thread but oh well.
I have 33x12.50 right now, and haven't had a problem with them. My buddy had 33x10.50 on his XJ and that thing was awesome in the mud, but sometimes would get slowed down on steep trails, or rocks.

I like the look of a wide stance, but in order to run 12.50 tires you need a lot of backspacing to not rub control arms or inner fenders. Since my tires are just about bald, I think my next tire will be a 33x10.50 KM/2. All the traction I need, I can run less backspacing, and they will be lighter which is better for my Jeepspeed/KOH theme I have going

Not a great photo to see my BFG/AT 33/10.5's, I wanted to go narrow (10.5 vs 12.5) becasue of the smaller footprint and I felt that would be less for the motor/tranny to turn especially since I haven't re-geared (yet). I do like the look of the 12.5's better but not praticle for me now (kinda like my praticle XJ w 6" lift, & 33's) NOT. If you need more traction with the 10.5's on the trail, just air down a bit.... Well works for me.
