33x10.50 vs. 33x12.50 vs. 32x11.50
Ok I'm getting a 4.5" lift on my '89 XJ and am looking at getting new wheels and tires. I like the way that 33x12.50 look but wondering if anyone else is running this size lift with either of the 32x11.50 or 33x10.50. Pictures? Reasons for running a narrower tire versus the 12.50. Thanks for the info

10.5 will be lighter than a 12.50 so might not lose as much power and mpg's. 10.5s will involve less trimming than a 12.5. 33x10.5 only come in bfg, swamper, and i think toyo brands though. I've heard skinny tires also cut through mud better than a fatter tire. it's all personal preference...i mean i run a 33x10.5 km2 on my s10 zr2 and run a 33x12.5 on my xj and love them both.

The reason for people running narrow tires are because they are better in snow, ice and mud(debatable). Other reasons are they require less trimming and you get better fuel economy.
I'm currently running 32x11.5 on a 4.5" lift and I'm happy with the performance. Check out my build thread.

depends on where your wheeling...
skinnier tires dig big ruts in mud. i see guys get stuck on 40s cause they got the skinny tractor tires. i went right past em and pulled em out.
for 12.50s youll need to change the backspcing on your wheels to not rub. mine are 5in i believe. no problems. need standard fender cuts though.
on rocks and trails a wider tire povides more surface contact which means better grip.
my philosopy... stuff the biggest tire you can under the least amount of lift needed.
4.5 is a great lift and 33's feel right at home. the width depnds on how well you wanna do offroad vs mpg and handling on road. i dont give a **** about on the road i want a vehicle that does great off of it.
