33x10.50 or 33x12.50 ?
1995 Cherokee, 4.0 H.O. AW4 tranny and stock 3.55 gears. Currently running 33x12.50s, performance and mileage could be better. Can not afford a gear swap now and need new tires, this is not a DD although I like to drive it as much as I can. Was wondering if the 10.50s wwould be a better choice with the 3.55s. Less weight, rotating mass and should be less drag do to being narrower? What do you think?

The width of the tire doesn't effect gearing. The taller the tire becomes the lower numerically your gears become. If you want to gain gearing back you need a smaller tire. You'll need a gear calculator (all over the internet) to see how your overall ratio is effected.

I understand that height affects the gearing, but what I am thinking is less weight and rolling resistence might help also. Less mass= easier to get moving= using less power.

12.5 to 10.5 will not do ANYTHING for your gas mileage and the weight saving will be minimal... If you can afford a new set of rubbers i am sure you could afford to save another month or so and do the re-gear. I run 35x12.50's on 3.55 gears without any problems. I had 33's on it before and the gas mileage only varied about 1-2 MPG depending on the driving style, deffinately worth the loss of 1 MPG
