Insurance costs are based upon the area you live in, your record, your age, and a few other things. Not just the vehicle itself.

I saw a 2wd XJ that was set up as a prerunner it was hauling ***** in some dunes. I was amazed at what it could do, but the suspension was a long way from stock. The engine sounded like a V8 it was one sick ride.

If insurance is the big hold up, why not take a 2wd truck, make it 4wd, and forget to mention your work to the insurance company?

Can that be considered fraud?

I'm sure it can. But exactly how many of us report our home made bumpers? How many of us report our large lifts? Aftermarket tires, rims? Motor swaps?

All should be reported, and I'm guessing 9.99% of the users on this forum don't even think to bring any modification up to their insurance.

How is that any different? Still carries the same penelty if you get caught.

Thank you, that's why there's such a big difference in insurance costs between 4wd and 2wd's here i guess since its such a rural area that i live in. I'm not saying it's like that everywhere, just here.

And yes, you can get a 2wd and convert it to 4wd and it stay the same on insurance. There is actually a thread on that, not sure if it's the same story for full coverage or not.

I've learned, kinda recently, that you have to be really relaxed in this forum. If you don't relax, you'll go nuts reading 99% of the crap on here.

I've given up. I don't care any longer. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em?

Yes, but the 2wd setup is very limited, and we all know it. The 4wd trucks open a completely new world compared to any 2wd truck, plain and simple.

You can't take a 2wd truck through or over everything a 4wd truck can make it though.

Physics agree with me.
