Hello I'm new here so I hope I'm doing this right, but I bought a 2001 jeep cherokee sport 4L 6 cyl. a few months ago and I seem to have a problem getting it started now. When I turn the key the dashboard lights come on and so will the ac/heat, but it won't turn over. However if I turn the key and shift it into neutral ( it's an automatic) it starts right up. If anyone has any info on what could possibly be going wrong, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

 

Your neutral safety switch is either dirty or toast. Head to YouTube and look for bleepinjeep video on how to take it off and clean it.
