Default 2000-2001 XJ Hood Paint Recalls

Was searching the web saw an add clicked on it for Jeep XJ recalls for 00/01 only with the hood and its primer and that if your Jeep quality's you can take it to a licensed dealer and get it fixed for free because Jeep messed up the primer on the hood by not using high temp any confirmations on this.

My '91 got repainted about ten years ago, because of a recall.

Mine looks pretty decent... but a free paint job would be nice. I doubt it though- I would guess that the recall probably applies only to the original owner or has a date that it has to be completed by (which is probably awhile ago).

Mine looks like crap as well. Anyway to tell if the dealer would still do this over 10 years later though?

Go ask them, or contact jeep. My mother owned mine when it was done. If I remember correctly, The hood, cowl, roof, mirrors, and tops of fenders where covered.( By jeep.) She paid the body shop a couple of hundred, to do the entire car. It was done at my brothers body shop though. Here's a site to contact Jeep. It's the site I used to get my original build sheet. http://www.jeep.com/wccsapp/universa...ull&category=U It's worth a try. Also ask to get your original build sheet.

Thanks I sent them a email and I am one of the few people for now with a 100% stock XJ.

It should go back to 98, because no matter how much I polished my hood, it looks like crap. Oh well...sides are too scratched up to say to them "I didn't do anything"

My roof was actually the worst part of mine, so bad that it was starting to rust where the paint was checking. I stripped the whole thing and re-painted it. LOTS more rust under the paint than you could see before stripping.
