Same here. I found a set of 5 rims with 4 - 31X10.5 used tires and one brand new 30X9.5 for a spare for $340. The 31's had some wear but still very serviceable. The rims, although still stockers, were a much better style than what was on it when purchased.

I turned around and flipped the almost new stock sized rims and tires that were on it for $250. They sold the same day I put em up. In hind sight I should've asked for more. Ended up spending a $90 when all was said and done. There are some deals out there. Did my deal on Craig's list too.

Incidentally, $100 to install the lift is a pretty good deal. It'll probably take around 3 hours barring any problems. That's only $33 per hour. Since you're from Chicago you're gonna have some rust issues. You can pretty much bet on it.

funny thing is i dont even know the guy hes like i hate pepboy they are over priced and i just needed a job haha so i was like alright give me ur number and ill call u when i get the lift in the mail. so it all worked out

 

Def. craigslist for tires...I had one 30X9.5 that came with my XJ...and on craigslist all through seperate people i scrounged up 3 more 30x9.5 for a total of 90 bucks...mounted and balanced at walmart for 10 bucks (clerk was a college aged girl...too easy) any ways...its all about the craigslist for tires. cant be beat.

if you are anywhere near PA, central listings on craigslist for jeep parts are like gold.

While your waiting for the weather to clear start spraying the shackel bolts with wd40. Mine were a ***** to get off and i live in AZ with zero rust.

Ya I live in chicago its cold and ugly. I've been sprayin them with pb blaster for about a week now. Ok question if I'm not very good with cars I can do little things. Do u think I can do this by myself? Its my DD and I'd hate to mess up. And I have min tools.

You need a good array of tools. It's not terribly difficult barring any rust issues (which yours is probably going to have). Might be a bit much for someone to start out with from a mechanical standpoint. There are definitely a couple pitfalls that could make it undriveable if something goes wrong. Also just from a safety perspective it might not be such a great idea.

 

I agree, 22 and 21 mm long/short sockets aren't something everybody has. You'll also more than likely need a strut spring compressor and be able to use it without hurting yourself. If you were local I'd be more than happy to help you.
