Quote: I don't have pictures to post and I know no one will believe me, but on stock suspension I run 31s. I can't do any flexing but they only rub the LCA at full turn. Mine are on until I lift it.

I believe ya cause Im running the exact same thing.

Quote: lmao ive been following this thread because I just grabbed a Cherokee 1998 with only 32000 miles on it and want to do exactly what you did. Mine is the very same color and everything but your type of roof rack lol. I thought it was mine at first. Now I can see EXACTLY what it will look like. Looks killer if you ask me, cant wait. WHat lift is it bud?
Thanks. The lift is a Rancho 2.5" with new coils, lower control arms, rear add-a-leaf and the Rancho 5000 shocks. The tires are 30x9.50 and the wheels are Cragar 15"s. I just picked it up yesterday and only have maybe 25 local street miles on it, but the ride improvement is significant. Good luck with yours.

should I just Google rancho 2.5 lift? Did you only add the shocks and the other stuff was all a kit or do I buy it all separate? Thanks dude.

Try this for a start http://www.gorancho.com/suspension.p...erokee_xj#lift

This is the kit. All components were included in a kit except the shocks, which were separate. I got mine and had it installed locally.

Can you keep your stock wheels with 30x9.5x15 tires? or with 31's? I just can't afford new wheels just yet. lol

Tire height does not matter. I run 33's on stock width wheels.

So yes, it will be fine. You just can't go too wide..

This may be exactly what I’m trying to do! Any chance you can give more pictures. Any backspacing?

This is a 96 sport about 1.5" of lift with 30x9.5r15 tires. No back spacing required. No Rubbing.

I even test fit some 31" tires, and they worked. But I didn't want to add an extra inch of width to each tire (thinner is better for the deep snow and ice we deal with). I think the 96 sport model is a little more forgiving with tire size due to the room available and clearance in the front fenders. I think the 97+ XJs and those with the classic style fenders may be a little less forgiving.

30 x 9.50 R15 is the most common size used BUT I have seen some use 31x10.50r15 as most tire manufacturers are +/- 1" advertised size.

I'm running "29 inch" tires with a 1.5" lift, mostly because I still have stock 3.07 gears. I know I could fit 30s or maybe even 31s. Still, I think it looks pretty good.
