Try and find one with the a pillars running to the b pillar hoop and not a hoop for the a. It tends to be a bit stronger. If your welding skills aren't great find someone who's are, this is your life your dealing with. The one I started and have yet to finish for mine is 1.75" 120 wall DOM. A lot of people use HREW and it works if you know how to bend it but I prefer the strength of DOM.

In my shop, an 8 point cage for a wrangler (TJ) would have run you $975...and I did 2-3 a month. The way the economy is now I might average 1 a month!

I would think you could do it for under $300 if the price of steel is good where you live! Right now 1.75 x .120 is $2.12/FT around here (Central Oregon)

And 1.75 x .120" round tubing is just fine for what you're wanting to do. Going with DOM or even Chromoly is only going to break the bank more, and not necessary unless you plan on entering you're jeep into a sanctioned competition where it's required. Just a thought...

1.50 would work fine, but 2.00" is a little big in my opinion, but would still work I guess...
