Default 1st post and I need a serious answer... please

I owned an Old Cherokee years ago and except for a few normal problems like the cruise control not working, I loved it. I shouldn't have sold it. Lately I've gotten the bug again and today I ran across an 06 GC that is immaculate, kinda high mileage (176K) but obviously well cared for. The fellow that has it just put new tires on it (He owns a tire store) and did some maintenance work to the hubs. His wife is driving it. He wants 5,000.00 for it which is on the low side for what they're going for here. I didn't have five grand in my checking account so I had to transfer some, that takes two days so I have two days to decide. Everything I've read on other forums has been ***** & complain and a few horror stories about the computer and electrical system. I need some guidance from someone other than a Soccer Mom who got stranded in the rain. Should I buy this or look for something else? Thanks!

I think you should get it checked over by a pro, or you go over it thoroughly and make sure there are no hiding bugs, in the mean while keep your eyes open for any other jeep in your area. If everything checks out and there arent any better deals out, get it. if theres anything sketchy about it get it cheaper or not at all. just my opinion, Good luck!

176k miles on a 06 Grand Cherokee, I would pass. The 3.7 or 4.7 are no 4.0, they won't run forever. $5k seems kinda cheap for an 06 GC so I would have it checked out before you hand over any cash.

If your going to be going offroad much at all I would pass. If you just drive it on road or on a dirt road its a good vehicle. As others have said I would definatelly get it looked over by a technician. I personally dont like the grand cherokees and my mom has an 04 (which she likes) thats had quite a bit of electrical problems (doors, locks, windows, etc) as well as transmission and engine problems. It kinda comes and goes randomly. We live down 2 miles of dirt road though and that tends to take a tole on our vehicles though so that may have something to do with it. Just my opinion on it.

Pass. Stay with the 4.0s. Solid Axles FTW as well.

Thanks Guys! I'm going to pass. My wife has a Landrover Discovery and it wrote the book on Electrical Ghosts. I really don't want another nightmare 4w. I won't really take it off road. My farm is offroad but mostly muddy roads. Anything worse than that I use the ATV. I want something with a back seat big enough for our Great Dane and a little easier on fuel than my 2500 Diesel. Thanks again!!!
