Sounds about right for a clean decent runner. Other will say they got theirs for less, but who cares? A grand is a good price.

No dissing, I've never owned a remix era xj, I helped my pops works on his old one before my sister wrecked it... it was an 89 limited all the options and ugly gold trim lol

i'd say go for it if it looks decent and you don;t see that many major fixes that need to be done, i got my 1997 xj for 1000 dollars and it needs a lot of comsmetic work from rust, and has a death wobble.

Where has a lot todo with it. $2500-$3500 for any year XJ that can pass state safety inspection and emissions in the DC region is fair. A 1998-2001 XJ in full working order with 120k to 150k miles will run $4500-$5000 pretty easily. Go to rural areas or areas that 4 wheel drive isn't a big deal...you can expect to see those prices halfed or more.
It is all about market demand. Cherokees are tough because they don't follow KBB or other "guides" you just have to see what else is on the market, and what the ACTUAL sale prices is! Just because some guy asks $10,000 for a 60,000 mile 1996 doesn't mean he'll get it!
