Which states are illegal?
Mirrors on the side make this perfectly legal in most states.

As long as you put mirrors on after you remove the doors most cops will not mess with you. I run doorless at least 60% of the year. Never an issue.
Also, this isn't tech. Read before you post. And search. Everyone and their mom has a write up on how to do this.

not sure on all the states but i know mass and new york are becuase of two reasons one the lip on the running board isnt high enough and also your modifying a part that wasnt meant to be modified.. unlike wranglers where there meant to come off... call your police station theyll tell you if it is or not.

It's LEGAL in most states and in most cases provided you simply replace the drivers side mirror. It is legal in FL assuming the OP is from Jacksonville.
PA is the big state where it's not legal, though technically speaking Wrangler doors off aren't either though CJs are since they could be purchased without doors in the first place.
Also if it's legal in the state you're from and your vehicle has plates on it from that state you can't be fined or ticketed in a state where it's not legal unless they can establish that you live there. If I take mine off and drive through PA, PA state and local police can't ticket me for not having them anymore than they can for not having a PA state inspection.

In PA in a Wrangler you won't because the vast majority have long since removed the factory hardware to go doorless and because of their resemblance to CJs everyone assumes they're doorless from the factory despite removal of hardware and relocation of the mirrors.
