I thought you were meaning over lapping spot welds or pulsed mig. It's how about 80% of WRC cages are built now and days. I'm familiar with the technique you're using (half moon, C's, ect).
I use a cursive lower case "e" type motion to get the stacked look. A lot of people trigger weld. or spot weld on top of spot weld.. The chick on extreme 4x4 was demonstrating the trigger technique a few years ago. lol
Thanx.. This pic is about twice as big as the actual part. It actually looked better in person since the pic is such a close up.. @ least its way bigger on my pc.. lol
Here's is the front section of frame stiffeners that I make for ZJ .. The customer installed the full set front to rear. Lots of welding here. Some decent welds too.
Did my first big welding job today. I know its ugly but its a start. Tomorrow I'll add another tube and make some mounting brackets as the stock ones aren't worth a ****

For sure, the best teacher is time under the hood. BTW 93, I sent you a PM...I'll get some pics of my bumper for ya this weekend...keep in mind I have a bender, so my end result will be different from yours, but I'll try to help you out with some pics so you can see what I did, and what you might be able to work into your build.

A couple of pics from work today. Keep in mind, I'm welding with an injured hand at the moment...not too bad. Just welded a backing plate on some 8" C-channel, 3/8" thick, for a drainage system on a piece of equipment. The second pic is a small 1 1/2" kicker, to help the water flow into the sump tank better, that weld isn't as clean, I got interrupted, and had to restart towards the middle, got a tad fat there, LOL
Done with a Miller 252 with .035 wire...love that machine

Also, I made the sides so long on the bumper because eventually I am going to make tube fenders and tie everything together. Weld the tube fenders to the rock sliders and eventually make a full exo cage
