I did some metal testing and a test weld on a 2003 (JK) Chrysler 8.25 center section.
MIG welding was a breeze and success

Thanks for sharing. The new to me 8.25 I just picked up for the Truetrac in it has a single weeping plug weld. I'm going to try welding it up a bit more before resorting to something like JB Weld, I just need to find a way to purge all the oil out of the crevices.

If you don't mind, what did you pay for the rear with the True-Trac in it??
My intention is to install a True-Trac,, but having a hard time shelling out $700+ for a new one,, and the only used one,, he wanted $650 for it ??

I got a stupid good deal on it in my opinion - $400, described as being from a 60k mile jeep with only about 1,500 miles on the install. And it's a 29 spline, matching what I have now. I figured even if I found an issue and had to swap it over to my current axle, it's still worth it. I happened to see it and bought it within 4 hours of it being posted.
