Sound bar mod for the doorless/caged guys
I've got another fresh one up on the docket. Honestly, this one will work for maybe 5% of the community but it came in pretty handy for me so I figured I may as well post it.
I needed a speaker solution for when I have my doors off that was reasonable and out of the way of everything. This way the speakers wont be getting full of mud or water either.
Start with something like this
Then get some hardware
Checking placement of the buckles
Measure angle Iron and cut two pieces. (7 Inches each)
Put together for drilling
Drilled
After all the holes are finished
Check placement again then mark for cuts and holes in the fiberglass
Cut and drill
almost ready to mount
Mounting buckles and angle iron
After everything is put back together.
Mounted. tied in on both ends with cable ties. The center buckles twist to adjust the overall length so that it will fit basically any cage now.
And I was running out of daylight but here is what it looks like installed.
I put in new speakers and then put the original grills back on so that it looked semi decent and would protect the speakers a little better. Honestly, there is nothing special or pretty about this but it works and now I have some sound when the doors are off. I know this probably won't work on most peoples jeeps but I figured I would post it anyway just for fun. Enjoy and comment away....

I always figured I'd just run some extra tube inside the same width as a Wranglers stock rollbar so I could run one of their sound bars.
I don't get the point of the angle iron and everything in the middle. It looked like it would have worked just the same without modding it.

I wouldn't have done all this work if it would have fit with out. The reason for the angle iron in the middle is that that its adjustable and will actually fit like it does. When it was full length it was too long and wouldn't sit on both sides of the cage. This was the simplest and cheapest option I could come up with and it seemed to do the job pretty well for what I was looking for.

A tj sound bar might work even better in yours since its a little more weather sealed and your top is open. I had one of those sitting around for a while too but ended up selling it and buying an air horn with the proceeds.

Yeah, I was thinking about just doing marine wake board tower speakers and mounting them to the cage but I'd be blasting the folks that sit in the back.
