nismo

No surprises.
Just go slow and if not sure cut it long, you can always trim more off.
Adding back is harder.
I split the rocker, and kind of poked around inside first.

I can tell you by experience that if you remove the swings on that swing set you can pull a motor out of a lifted truck .

Actually today wasn't a total bust.
Got the 2X6 angled ends cut and end caps fabbed.
Ready to weld.

Hello,

Well got my bracing figured out and cut.
There are 4 per side, they will weld to the stiffners and then, fishmouth onto the 2x6.
Just need to cut the floor and mock everything up.
Then burn everything in.

Trying to decide if Iam going to plate the reinforcement to make boatsides.
Things are getting heavy, so adding more 3/16" AP is allot of weight.

JC88

I am sure it is possible to use round tube.
I have not seen it done.

There is only thin gage sheet metal in the body, so if you only weld to that, then that will be the weak point.

That is why i added the 10ga stiffners and am bracing the 2x6 tube off of that.

Good luck.

Looks good so far! Those 2x2 braces are really good looking, those are the only thin holding me back from doing mine. It's not that I can't make them, it's that I dint feel like it haha.

I cut out a good portion of my rocker when I had to rebuild the spring hanger, I have been meaning to finish the job for over a month now. I cut mine all the way up to where the door seals.

Grayguy

I was going to go higher, but the floor would have hung down below the rockers.
If I were to go higher I would do a true boatsides and angle from the unibody rail up to the rocker with 3/16" plate and replace the floor.

Just not up for that level of fab right now.

Need to be out playing with it not sitting in the garage in pieces.

Cheers

I've considered doing a boatside from the the frame braces to the inside of the 2x6 and chop the floor, but like you said, I'm sure I I want to take that project on just yet haha.

I was gonna leave it down where you did, but preexisting rust an dents motivated me to o higher an make it work.
