Replacing Rear 1/4 Panel
Hello All,
My XJ's driver side 1/4 panel has a pretty big dent in it. It was rear ended a while back and pushed the under side in a bit. It's not too pretty looking.
How hard is it to replace? I'm still learning how to weld. I'd like to save some $$ and could use some pointers. I have most of the tools in garage.
Cheers!

get a few good spot weld cutter bits....you have about 50 to drill out to get the old 1\4 off. i did it once, and i would rather go buy a new cherokee than do it ever again!!.....super thin sheet metal is not the best to learn to weld on either. it takes some getting used to. its pretty easy to blow holes all over the place or warp your work. also, make sure to clean ALL the old paint off before welding.

You said lower section so you may look into doing a 1/4 cut fold away... from the bend down behind the wheel make it all disappear... if your damage is low enougg it may be easier to do this... mine was also rearended on the drivers side and I was able to hide all by lifting the panel... let me see if I got a pic of what I mean...
Yep.... before and after...

Yup, if I were you, I would have a body shop weld it in for you. Save you lots of time and energy to get it done right. Also, I agree that the super think sheet metal is incredibly hard to learn on
