That too, haha.

Too bad nobody seems to read the stickies so the fab section is still chock full of threads that shouldn't be here.

we need a test requirement for this forum, or a section for advanced members, with an invite from mods only, cause some members have a lot of posts but they have no meat in them if that makes any since. we all have posts that are worthless but there is a point oh damn that is enough

how could you tell if someone was "advanced" though? if people just learn to read before they post, things would be a lot better. until then, things will stay the same.

I don't necessarily agree with that, however I think everyone needs to read all the stickies before they post at the very least.

im talking about people with competent build threads and such im just talking about a section to get away from newbs and all of the what size tires will fit with what size lift kinda stuff, the mods, (u guys) know what is goin on.
i not saying schun everyone, but get away from the people that need a search box worse than their next meal
alot of people would have the criteria to be in this section so im just saying think about it, i appreciate the thought anyway

well how about a quiz on the stickies as a requirement to activate your account? i think that would help a little.

This may be completely random but I get irritated at all the "fab" threads where nothing is fabricated at all....they have tons of posts about something they are "going to build" but nothing ever comes of it. I get through all the posts only to find I was left blue balled.

Its those and the other 90% of threads in the fab section which are just someone asking a question about what material to use, what welder to buy, or whether we think that what they want to do is a good idea. I still don't get why people are incapable of reading stickies and heeding the rules laid forth within them.

When I joined CF the first thing I did was read all the stickies because they looked important.

It's not about being incapable of reading. Discussion about fabrication, regardless of the actual conversations content, makes sense in fabrication.

Did you even read CosXJ's post?

He clearly states that the fab section is not for the discussion of "what welder should I get/what do you guys think of this idea/what thickness toob should I use?

Maybe we need a fab "Chat" section of the forum. Maybe some of the people who obviously don't understand the rules and don't follow them should be flamed. Sometimes you need to be a little harsh for people to get the message, which its obvious from all of the misplaced threads they're not.

i read it, but when its fabrication specific people are not going to post in another section when you have a specific section for fabrication. Its not unreasonable to believe that those who can help with fabrication questions are most likely to see your question in fabrication, instead of the shuffle of a more broad section.

I'm not trying to disrespect the rules. I have started, run, and sold a few high profile internet forum sites and i understand both sides. But you have to realize that flaming is not beneficial to anyone, you have to step back and see both sides. There is often a middle ground, like the chat you suggested, that moves the forum in a positive direction and allows it to grow with its memmbers.
