Not anytime soon will you be able to to purchase this motor in fact I work at a dealership and if we have an engine that has a problem the entire engine gets set back to the factory number two the complexity of this engine is enormous the way that it controls the valve timing the valve lift it also has a water cooled EGR valve to plot this into a 89 XJ will be a monumental task not to say a few years from now that you won't be able to buy a engine and an engine kit to install it with a harness and the computer or pull it out of a red car but this all together is a very tall order remember this is going to be an over a 500 horsepower inline 6 it's expected to get mid-20s to 30 miles to the gallon

A Chevy LS or if you are made of money an LT. They are strong and the car engines have aluminum blocks to be lighter and are low profile. You will need to use the Chevy trans unless you want to go manual. But there are lots of conversion parts and you can buy parts at the dollar store

 

What motor are you referring to? So I can look it up both motors please

 

LS looks to be 4 cylinder stronger then my straight six. They sell a complete package with everything you need for the engine

 

There are two LS1s. ONe is a 5.3L and the other is 5.7L. Lots of people settle for the 5.3L because they are relatively cheap. The car engines are aluminum, the truck version is cast iron block. Then there is the LS2, and LS3 and LS7. LS3 is 6.2L and 405 hp. LS7 is 7L and 505 hp. The bigger the number, the bigger the purchase price and more bucks for a tranny to be compatible with them. Best to google LS engines and you will find several pages with all the engine specs start to finish

 

I appreciate your knowledge in this matter, further review shows that these are eight cylinders short block. Will this fit in my engine cabin? Because I’d sure like to do a transformation. My gas mileage sucks, and I am having constant problems with coils fuel injectors etc. And do they supply the transmissions in their packet also?

 

Yes, they will fit. A lot people go with the taller LS type truck engines. But the car versions are much shorter. The LS has a larger flywheel and bellhousing than the 4.0. So a lift is required so the diff doesn't hit the oil pan. Raising up the engine higher is a plus too here. Once you get into the Chevy world, lots of tinkering parts you can get. One other thing, If you get the chevy auto tranny, use the 231C from an S10. Heavier chain and will fit the tail housing for the 4L60 plus you won't have to change inputs on the tcase for the larger chevy output shaft

 

OK can I stick with my Dana 30 or 35 front differential and the axle, and the Chrysler 8.25 rear axle?

 

If you have a 29 spline rear axle shaft then yes

 

And in case anyone was curious. A fully dressed Iron block "LS" motor weighs 580lbs, and a 4.0l Jeep motor is around 515lbs.
