Thats the key, Milk just makes you feel better after your sick. Please please please do everything in your power to avoid getting galvy poisoning, after you get it the first time, everytime there after its harder to avoid and it feels way worse. I've seen it happen to many of my co-workers and have been fortunate to have never experienced!
I thought drinking a glass right after welding helped prevent you from getting sick? I got it in shop class in high school and you never forget the taste it leaves in your mouth.

Ive asked my instructors when I was and apprentice, all the old journeyman along the way and nobody really understands why the milk helps.

I know it does work to help you feel better, I have seen this with my own eyes.

It doesnt "prevent" you from being exposed to some really nasty chemicals and carcinogens!

Keep in mind alot of those, once inhaled, will be with you for life!!!!!

The calcium in milk bonds to zinc and helps your body rid itself of zinc oxide.

Should still wear a mask to limit exposure.

I'm guessing it's almost like inhaling too much paint from spray. Bleh...not fun. I just go into home depot and they have a good selection of masks for $20. They work really well from personal experience.

Brookhart I really like the rack! If I ever intend on making something like this or a friend I will definitely copy yours (if thats ok)

I don't want to highjack your thread at all but it seems you know I good amount about welding...how much should it typically cost to weld two 2.5" pipes together?

I couldn't help but read the whole thread. First off, the first post says somehting like " comments and INSULTS are welcome" so when people have negetives about the rack which aren't meant to be insults, he gets pissed. then when he insults and other people comment on him being wrong(whether theyre right or wrong it's all opinions) he gets pissed and tells cherokeechick to gtfo? lol very interesting. and as far as zinc oxide poisoning, it is bad. I had it freshman year in highschool. I would compare it to mono. body hurts all over. sleep 20 hours in a day. try to stand up and get dizzy and fall over, get random bloody noses, no appetite, even water tastes bad.... lol don't weld it inside and wear a mask.

-and above everything, I do like the rack. prolly stronger than the average emt rack. and I am a fan of emt racks for the right application.
