So go put 1250lbs on your emt rack. I have bent and installed more EMT than most people see in a life time. I know a lot about it. I would not install it on a jeep that actually gets wheeled. I no longer have this installed on my jeep for wheeling reasons.

It's worked well for me it's light and looks good it's well supported and well secured!

Attachment 112715

It's welded to the metal piece and the emt on both sides of the mount and then I welded in another L shaped piece it works and Before I put it up I stood on it with no problems on the sides the middle has a bit of give but where I have my tire it's fine.. just don't call people's work **** thats all I was trying to say! And I fully intend on wheelin' with it it doesn't make any noise or anything. I dynomated the mounts works great. Cheap super light weight and strong enough for what I need it for

The 1250 lbs on your rack is silly.

AWESOME, it's supports all that weight, let me know how well that top heavy turd corners!

Every rack has its intended purpose, just because EMT doesn't work for you doesn't mean it's $hit.

Aww need some butt hurt cream? Emt has no place on an ofroad rig where i wheel. Its a joke. Now a welded emt rack on a prerunner for lights a a little gear? perfect. Emt is **** for what i wheel. Im not to worried about how it corners, i wheel mine not mall crawl. plus its 35lbs tops.

Apparently he intends on flipping his rig lol some people don't have welding skills some don't have access to a welder and they do with what they got.. I know for a fact that I don't crash into trees or intend on flipping my jeep or getting takin out by flying cows .. I don't see how any trail would effect the integrity of your rack.. As long as you don't over load it. I mean mine has my spare 31 and it'll have some camping gear up there and stuff but other then that... and it'll hold up just fine for what I am using it for.

My rack is around 60 - 70 lbs but I used a lot of 1/8 thick x 6 inch x 2 inch steel slabs. Like I said I stood on it and I weight 135 so... You can call emt a joke all you want it's just showing that your completely ignorant. I'm not saying it's better then steel but no trail is going to effect the integrity of my rack unless I flip it. This also shows your ignorance...

Haha yep. You sound like a smart one. Small business owner of Brookhart Electric ignorant about EMT. SMH. My last trip out i ruined my pass side gutter and put a large dent into the A pillar when the jeep pitched sideways into a large tree. Low hanging branches will rip a non-welded EMT rack to bits. GTFO of my thread if your just spewing useless information. Your "wheeling" probably consists of driving down a muddy road. This shows that you are just another web wheeler.

I don't understand how beating the crap out of your rig makes you an expert on the subject of EMT roof racks?

Further more, you stated you an electrician. So I doubt if you have a degree in engineering. Bending conduit and jerking wires through it doesnt make you an expert in structural integrity.

I'm seriously not trying to talk ****, just explain to you that your opinion is just that an OPINION. I have no desire to have an EMT rack or any other rack ripped off my roof. If you want to treat your xj that way it's cool, that's your perogitive, but alot of people consider that to be somewhat stupid, destroying something doesn't make what your doing hardcore. I've rode shotgun through the rubicon in a straight axle Tacoma, 30000$ rig, ran the whole thing with out so much as scratching the paint! Does that make him a ***** cause he selectively drove through obstacles?

Yup, things that happen on the trail unexpectedly are "stupid". Im saying ANY rack where i wheel would be a problem. I never said i was "hardcore". Far from it actually. If what you have works for you, COOL, i dont really care. If what i have works for me, COOL, why should you care? Seriously im done bickering with web wheelers about pvc, emt and S*** pipe.

Well if anything the entertainment factor is dwindling. Kudos to your rack build man. It works great for you. If it wasn't for guys like us taking a crack at building something ourselves, the hobby would result in baking cakes, thus riding around in non modified Jeeps. For the rest of the reality TV garbage here, guys, cmon. All opinions should be accepted, take out of it what you want and drop the rest. If anything I'm interested in all materials used for fabrication.

Yeah im a bit of a hard headed ***** sometimes(most of the time). Couple 20' sticks and maybe 3 foot of 2"x3/16 flat steel and consumables. Some advice to anybody-Make your rack on a table or saw horses, it kills your back bending over for hours. Angle the front and maybe put some plexi glass on it to help with wind if its a DD. DONT NOT weld rack when it is on top of the jeep, old indian says "hot sparks melt tinted glass".
