My roof rack
So after looking through countless threads and write ups I decided to use a very basic design for my roof rack. I like the look of the simple box rack and I decided to go full roof with it. I plan on mounting it the factory rails.
Just a basic layout before I start welding.
More pics are soon to come as I work on it.

Thanks! It's 3/4 in square tubing all the way and it's 72"x49 1/2" and 6 1/2" tall. I'm working on the feet that mount the rack to the factory rails. I should have everything tacked up by tonight.

I don't have it on the jeep yet I'm still grinding down some welds for a nice smooth finish and then I'm painting it flat black and then it should be up on the jeep. It could take a few more days since I work an 8-5 and the next day off is Tuesday, but it should definitely be done by then. From the bottom of the feet to the top of the rail is about 9 3/4 - 10"

My awesome welding stand lol
Feet welded on to the rack. I mounted the feet to the rails with the rack sitting on top of it until I had I where I wanted it and them put a towel on my roof and tacked the feet to the rack. Took it down and finished all the welds. I am in the process of grinding them smooth and I have a few welds I need to redo.

So I decided to add a bottom to my rack so I could tie things down easier.
I used expanded metal. Bought it in a 4'x8' sheet for $100. Cut it into two 3' pieces and notched out the corners and places for the uprights to fit. I'm screwing it down with self tappers but I ran out tonight so I have to get more tomorrow. I plan to make removable brackets for things like a high lift, axe, fishing poles, or whatever else I can think of.
