Hello Sorry I posted this in the tech on accident and think it should be here. I was planning on doing a min boatside to my 96 cherokee and would like to hear what yall think. I am building this to be mostly a trail rig. I already have frame stiffeners and I was going to cut the rocker out back to the door seel and replace it with 2x6 3/16 wall then run 4 or 5 2x2 1/8 inch wall from there partially through the floor to the unibody frame rails and covering it with a 3/16 sheet. Also I have a 5.5 RE LA lift and the belly pan has the plates that run out to the pinch welds to help strenghthen it up in all if Im running the 2x2 from rails to the rocker gaurds do I really need them? Hope all this make sense, I would love to hear what everyone thinks and the pros and cons about all of this. Just like this build but with a 2x6 so i can attach the exo cage to it. THANKS again for the help in the past and the future.

that is awesome, great fab skills, but are you going to skin the 2x2s??? just see them catching on stuff when your leaned over and trying slide along... other than that this is now on the wish list for when mine is no longer a DD
I found that online an that where I got the idea an going to start on it next week but going to change a couple things an yes run a 3/16 sheet on the 2x2s. I wanted to see what peoples thought were on this. Pros an cons.

you better make sure they are SOLID. if they flex up even a little bit, opening the door will be a pain or impossible.
I'm thinkin it going to be pretty dang solid but my doors are already a pain to open. Lol

im not sure i would use 3/16 to skin them with, thats some pretty thick stuff and heavy! i bet with a few pieces of angle iron between each piece will help brace it enough for some thinner skin to help cut the weight down

You should skin it with UHMW Plastic. Thats what all the buggy's skin their stuff with. It slides right over the rocks, and I believe they sell it in black. You should check it out.
ended up go with 1/8 plate. Think it came out pretty good we'll see once i get it out in the rocksMJ>XJ
I think these are nice if you need to slide a rock down them so they don't hang instead... but I also think u loose alot of ground clearance... what may not normally hit will now...

Doesn't really look like that at all. The lowest parts are tied into the frame rails of the unibody so it's not any lower, unless I'm mistaken.Originally Posted by huntingman2706217
