well i dont want to raise my hood like that as i drive it on the street and that is no bueno ifen I decide to rear end someone (I live in Los angeles and people just cut you off and slam on the brakes!)...

I was thinking that by cutting some holes on the engine compartment side of the firewall it would allow the heat to dissipate thru the cowl vent....aint worried about fire or exhaust fumes as there is the inner firewall that will keep that from entering....thanks for your thoughts

I am a rock crawler and try to stay out of mud. Probkem with MUd and the xj is it can block the radiator up quick thus eliminating air flow entirely.

I just dont see a point in putting holes in the hood so water can get on the electronics of the motor. I have even thought about pulling my mech fan and putting an additional electric fan on it, not that I really need it though

what did you use as a spacer? Looks like a decent alternative to cutting the hood etc.

#1 my xj just have 33´s and 800pounds in mods. it is very necesary an extra fan and the hood scoop mod. FOR TRAFFIC AND MUDDING.
#2 my other xj is stock and doesnt need nothing it runs perfectly. I CAN GET STUCK IN MUDD AND TRAFFIC WITH NO PROBLEM.

I had 1/4" spacers from where I used to work. Stacked them up to make 1" lift and got some screws from the hardware store 1" longer than the stock ones

you dont have a lot of room to work with, i dont think it will make a difference.

also, the fan for your heat/ac pulls air in through the passenger side vent in the cowl...

why dont you just upgrade your radiator, or swap in a taurus fan....or both? Then you have no need to cut.

hey there darky!!! lol who ever said you dont have to put an aux fan on? i think your seeing things that arent there.

if you read what you quoted, i said putting fan on a switch would take your underhood temps down.....which i guess is wrong....you have to remember to turn the switch on for this to work.....yeah

i realize after 2 PM´s sent from you and this quote... THAT I REALLY HURT YOUR FEELINGS

i´m sorry was not my intention
my quote was not all for you, a part was just info.
I just want you to know that your solution was 1 direct fan and mine was 2 direct fans and a hood scope.
maybe this info is not nesesary for you but there is people that really need it.

thats what i have now. i took out my mechanical fan, and am running a taurus electric fan from the junkyard in its place. its on manual control and works great. normal driving/light wheeling my aux fan doesnt even turn on...if im wheeling really hard it'll kick on every once and a while.

Like I said...once I hit the trails.. fan comes on.. stays on. I have had no issues with overheating except when I have packed radiator with mud.
