im sorry i was a lil confused it needs the intake suction or it can cause oil leaks im pretty sure the front one can be filtered but its best with thw box and the back one has to have intake suction or it will cause leaks oil out the dipstick or next weakest link.

Only the rear CCV fitting needs suction, the front one just provides a filtered source of fresh air. BTW, there is no valve in the CCV system on an XJ, its basically a tube from the filtered side of the air box, a metered orifice and a vacuum line to the intake manifold.

I'm kinda confused, its a 2nd Gen, with a 1st gen header panel, and quarter panels.

And you have some SERIOUS sag in the rear end....

Never done it personally, but I've heard some horror stories from people using bumpers as air tanks,

Did you create an air hole up there near the firewall? If not, why did you locate the intake to an area where there's no air flow???

I believe this horse has already been beat to death, not just here, but on every forum regarding automobiles on the internet. It's just an air filter, it isn't going to create gobs of torque or horsepower. One thing it will do is make the engine louder. This isn't typically a desirable trait in an automobile, so manufacturers go to great lengths to quiet down the induction system. However, there are a few of us who actually like to hear our engines, and so we do stuff like this. I personally enjoy hearing my engine note through my snorkel; I think it sounds kind of cool.

Yeah, people focus too much on the little mods that make little to no difference. Companies with gimmicks sold to people who love to eat that crap up. That aftermarket filter probably has a more area to suck air. The stock air box has such a small hoe it seams like it struggles. My 96 has a plastic cap in the front clip or rad support where there is a cut out in the middle. This is right in front of the opening in the air box inlet. So it doesn't get any forced air either. You don't want that on a DD anyway. Not that if I remove it that will happen. there is a headlight and front clip keeping that from happening.

Huh? WTF are you going on about? What has been beat to death? I simply asked if the filter was going to be air starved or not (in different words), y'know, it being an air filter & all. I don't care about his horsepower or any of that crap. I've never seen anyone route the air filter into a "dead-end" corner, especially up near the booster. Why don't you give the person this was directed at, a chance to respond?
