I used 2&3/4in. hose clamps to attach it to the rails and then sheet metal screwed the pipes front to back on bottom to the rails also. Thing wont budge,Im a big guy and I can tug on it and whole XJ moves plus I have a Hi-Lift jack and a 31 up there for over a week and no signs of givin yet.

I like the way it looks, Any reason not to leave it as bare metal? on my Laredo i have chrome around windows, handles and mirrors so i might as well leave it shiny on top right?

Instead of using sheet metal screws what do you think about using all pipe with
before and after each elbow bend to get total of 8 vertical pieces and then use horizontal ones on the front and back end of the bottom or the rack instead of screwing pipes down?

kinda like :
l T T T T l
l l l l l l
l l l l l l
l l l l l l
(flip top over insert here)

Watch out for the screws rattling out, almost lost my shovel down the highway due to self tapping screws rattling out after a trail.

Well I bolted the jack to the side plates and used lock washers to hold it in. I do check the screws every week just to make sure but so far none have come loose.
