1st fab rear bumper
so about 2 weeks ago i bought 20 foot of 2x6 square steel 8 foot 1/4 inch flat stock 4 27000 lb pull force d rings and a reciever hitch today my dad and i began working on the rear bumper for my xj later on we will work on the front. this is my first fab job but i think it is coming out very well.
first we began with the brackets right now they are just tacked for the form with only one bead
next we measure and traced up a template to the 2x6
cut out the marks with a ryobi grinder (my first time cutting out steel)
the plan is to bring the flat stock to match with the contour lines of the lower panels
During grinding-
After Grinding-
Matching up-
we added the reciever hitch in
and the mounted on the tow points making sure they were nice and strong
after we cut and began to mount the driver side contour on the last weld we ran out of wire so we got more but then when we were on the last weld of the reinforcement gibbet we ran out of gas
i began to grind the whole thing beginning on the driver side going over but then my flap wheel runs out and i have to be done
we are planning on finishing the rear mounting and all next weekend and later down the line i will be bedlining it for a rugged look

Looks good so far.
Is the receiver hitch sitting flush on the bumper or did you cut a hole and run it through both the front and back side of the bumper?

we cut ahole through the front and back for the most secure mount if we just sat it flush it would be sure to just pop off the first time towing somthing

For your bumper, since u have very little room on top of the bumper, you should mount it off the front face instead with 2 tabs that stick out and bolt your tube in between if that makes sense. I think they call it "double sheer"
