Homebrew Jeep Mods
I built a plexiglass ramp in the stock air box. It directs the air from the bottom front to the back top. My theory was that it would help air flow as well as remove the dead space in the back corner. I'm not sure about mileage but IMO I felt a performance difference.

WJ trackbar, breacket needs a little refining, probably make a new one when I move the track bar up.

Did it drop the track bars location?
How much lift are you running?
Did you weld up that bracket?
Any binding?
Thanks!
Id love to see some pics of this. I understand your thought process, but I wonder how much it really does. Being that the filter is there, blocking the air. And I wonder how much positive airflow there really is goin into the airbox to being with. Where I see this having the most gains is in the low end and cruising MPG where the engine isnt asking for a whole lot of air and the slight increase in airflow will make a difference.

I sitting somewhere between 5 and 5 1/2 (4 1/2 coil, double isolator).
Yes I welded the bracket. It's just a stock xj bracket with a 1/4 plate box welded to it, lol. I went a little overkill size wise, if you look close at the first pic, you can see a little orange on the spring. It only hits on "full stuff" so that's what I mean by refinement.
I have no binding issues with bar movment, works pretty much like the aftermarket bars (jks, bds, ect, ect), except no adjustment.
Before I did this mod, I made a relocation bracket for the stock bar on the axle, but then I got sick of the rod end binding, and getting wiped out every couple months. Being that I welded the relocation bracket to the axle, I didn't have time to cut it off and put it back up where it should be
when I mocked up the wj bar (winter mod, only vehicle, lol). So yes the bar is currently dropped.
As you can see, the bar allows a little more room for movement at the bottom than the stock xj bar, so really there's no need for the relocation bracket anymore.
All in all, it works great, I've been running it for about 3 years now, and have not had any trackbar issues since. Not to mention much cheaper than the alternatives. I can't remember what the junkyard charged me for the bar, but it wasn't much, lol. I was going to buy a new one, but I figured I'd mock it up with a used one first (I didn't want to be out $100 in case it turned out to be a bad idea)........Used one hasn't worn out yet,
I'm going to enlarge the inlet side this summer so this will have to change then. So this one was just to test my theory, thats why it doesn't look that great. I'll clean it up when I do the other modifications this summer.
It aparently did something. (The back edge of the filter was full of bug chunks and dust.

Then I thought of something new for the roof rails instead of the gutter mounts. I took some stock rails I had and pulled all the spring hardware out of them and took 1" tubing on top of the mounting feet. I used all stainless hardware. These are super strong!! I stood on only one of them and it didn't even flex. I weigh ~200lbs. and the stock rails went right to the floor.
Here's some pictures.

Here's mine vs. Stock

Still have to bedline them, but it was too cold in the garage to paint. Hopefully I be able to finish them next week if I get a chance to heat up the garage.

The ones he drilled into were 97+ cherokee ones, fit the same on the rails either way 84-96 or 97+. personally like the 97+ more. i kept my stock rails when i put my rack on, theyre solid, but i dont like how they arc :P
