i been working on this for two days now and finally got done....i built a very strong roof rack for 80$......i went to a place near me that sells any kind of metal you can think of and i bought 60 feet of 1"x1" 11gauge spuare tubing....i got some of it cut by the place so i could fit it in my jeep....then i cut it all with a chop saw...the rack is 5' long x 39" wide and 5 1/2" tall..i did a 45 degree angle on the ends so everything fit together real nice...it was alot of welding and grinding but it was worth it in the end

looks good. I built my rack for about a year. its was a spare time bored thing
