well, my dad and I spent a good 5 hours outside today, workin on it. got a lot done. we have everything mounted good, and most of the grinding is done. it bolts on perfectly to the XJ. The only things left to do is:
-Add tie ins to the mounting brackets
-Cut the notch in the bottom and weld the receiver in
-Weld on D-Ring tabs
-And notch the ends of the bumper, bend inwards, and reweld (to curve with the body more)
-Wire brush the whole thing
-Prime and paint black
P.S. sorry for the dim pics, one of the lights in the garage was out.

so this weeks been really busy, but tonight me and my dad did some work on my bumper. we cut the receiver off the old hitch, cut out a notch, and welded the receiver in. then we notched the end of the bumper and bent inwards, to curve to the body more, and welded. i did a lot of grinding, and only finished one side for the night. my dad also picked up some 11000 lb D rings. i was planning on making mounts and using the shackle type, but i figured, well he already bought these for me, and they would be much easier to weld on, so i might as well use them. so hopefully soon we can weld on the D rings and the frame tie ins, and paint it, and mount it!!!!
also theres a picture of the 6x9's i installed and the 400watt amp, but in the picture its not all mounted yet.

well the 6x9's were made to fit after about 3 rs with the sawzall and lots of measuring, but once you remove the fibergalss plate that sits under the original speakers, it is deep enough for them to fit. and the plastic part goes back on, but it sits out about 1cm further, so im going to drill some holes and throw some screws around the outside of the hatch. works for me.
and as far as weight goes, id say right now its about in the range of 70-90 lbs

looks good man, I haven't been a junior in highschool for a little over 10 years now, but I really admire what you and your dad are doin... keep up the good work... I kinda keep up with the belief that you appreciate it more when you put the work into it yourself

but then again.. bolts dont come out of jeeps...
